Choosing a product

Are you choosing PU, or guessing PU?

Start from what the material has to enter and what it has to become.

Chemistry map: what each product can enter and what it becomesIndicative chart. Acrylate gels such as Teracryl enter fine soil and hairline cracks and set as a gel. Hydrophilic and flexible PuTeRA grades go into cracks and joints and cure as flexible foam. Geo-EP 2422 epoxy bonds cracks as a solid. DrucPietra, PuTeRA 2421 and GeoFine microfine cement enter sand, gravel and fissured rock and set solid. PuTeRA 2430 VG, S161, 2406 HS and Level Up fill open voids and cavities as rigid foam. Polyurethane grouts

Hydrophilic or hydrophobic?

The two kinds of polyurethane grout treat water in opposite ways. That decides where each one works.

Hydrophilic and hydrophobic polyurethane in a wet crackLeft: hydrophilic polyurethane takes up water as it reacts and cures as a flexible foam that stays flexible while wet (PuTeRA 2455). Right: hydrophobic polyurethane repels water, foams and pushes water out of the crack (PuTeRA 2410, 2435, 2430 VG).
